Add all ingredients together in a medium saucepan, and mix well. I like to use a whisk to get everything mixed together smoothly.
Make sure you have a sturdy spoon (like a wooden spoon) for the next step. Cook the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly, until it begins to pull away from the side.
This is the most important step! Make sure to stir the “dough mass” around until all of the wet spots are gone. If you’re in doubt, cook it just a little longer. This is what makes it not sticky.
Plop the hot dough onto a flat, heat-resistant surface. (A plate makes for easy clean up, and easy to move around so the children can watch.) Knead until a smooth ball forms, but start slowly as it will be very warm.
The dough will stick to the pan a little bit, no matter what you do. When I accepted that fact, life became much easier. hehe Don’t try to scrape off and incorporate the crusty stuff! Just be prepared to soak the pan when your finished, and it will clean up no problem. 😉
Now it’s time to play!
Make sure to cool it completely before you store it in an airtight container. There is no need to refrigerate it, and it will last for months.
